The 2025 HFH Grant Build has begun! Court Sacred Heart #1424, Waseca, is the recipient of this grant and we are working with the Two Rivers HFH Affiliate, out of Rochester. This affiliate serves the counties of: Waseca, Steele, Dodge, Olmsted, and Wabasha. The current Habitat for Humanity home is located at 1475 Sage Lane, Owatonna. This build is unique as it is a “Veteran’s Build” which means the home will be for a veteran and family, and most of the contractors hired are veteran owned businesses. This is a larger home than the usual HFH homes. It will be a 4-bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car garage home. Two Rivers HFH has partnered with the Owatonna High School shop classes. The interior and exterior walls are being built by the students at an off-site location. They will be brought over to the building site and set up. Hopefully the house will be buttoned up before winter, and then the interior will be worked on through the winter/spring. Habitat is hoping this build will be wrapped up by June. Currently, applications are being evaluated as prospective homeowners.
Court Sacred Heart, along with Two Rivers HFH has designated two dates as CDA build dates, January 15 and February 19. This will be interior work – possibly hanging drywall, cutting out electrical boxes, painting, staining, varnishing, and more. We won’t know the exact work until closer to the build dates. But – this is YOUR opportunity to help with a build! You don’t need to know any skills – you will be taught on the job!
